We recently spoke with Clementine Beale, founder of Salt Lab, who knows a thing or two about sleep and recovery. After experiencing burnout and exhaustion herself, Clementine founded Salt Lab, inspired by the transformative benefits of magnesium.

In our conversation with Clementine, she shared the story behind Salt Lab, tips on how to begin incorporating magnesium into your routine, and her advice on improving wellness and recovery for optimal health.

For those who don’t know your story, can you share how Salt Lab came to be?

Salt Lab was born out of my own struggle with extreme exhaustion and burnout. At the time, I had just opened a wellness centre, I was working long hours and juggling the demands of startup life, but I was constantly feeling depleted and unable to recover.

I tried everything, including oral magnesium supplements, but nothing seemed to work. That’s when I started exploring topical magnesium and realised how effective it was for improving sleep, recovery, and overall energy levels. 

Seeing the incredible impact it had on my life, I was inspired to create a trusted, high-quality topical magnesium product that could help others feel their best too. Salt Lab started with the goal of making magnesium more accessible and effective, and it’s been amazing to see how much it has resonated with people looking for natural, simple solutions to everyday wellness challenges.

With growing interest in wellness, how do you see the future of the magnesium supplement industry, and where does Salt Lab fit into that vision?

 Oil is a highly concentrated form of magnesium chloride, applied directly to the skin for rapid absorption. It’s fantastic for targeting specific areas, like sore muscles or restless legs since bypasses the digestive system - which can sometimes limit how much magnesium your body absorbs from oral supplements.

The benefits include better sleep, reduced muscle tension, relief from cramps, improved energy levels, and even easing anxiety. It’s a game-changer for anyone looking for a fast, effective way to boost magnesium levels.



Besides Magnesium Oil, do you have other daily/weekly non-negotiables that keep you feeling good?

Yes, I have a few! Starting my day with lemon, salt and water is a non-negotiable.  Regular movement is essential — whether it’s a pilates class, a stretch, or strength training. I prioritise a daily Infrared Sauna session, and close the day out with stillness whether it’s journaling, meditation, or simply unplugging from screens.

Staying hydrated with and fuelling my body with whole, nutrient-dense foods is a big one. And, of course, prioritising quality sleep is key — it’s the foundation for everything else.

With growing interest in wellness, how do you see the future of the magnesium supplement industry, and where does Salt Lab fit into that vision?

The magnesium supplement industry is set to grow as more people understand the crucial role magnesium plays in overall health.

With a shift toward sustainability and transparency, I see consumers demanding products that are effective, ethically made, and kind to the planet. Salt Lab fits into this vision by prioritising natural, high-quality ingredients, sustainable practices, and an honest, customer-focused approach. We give back to Regenerative Agriculture which for us, is our commitment to fixing the root cause by contributing to a future where our soil is abundant in the nutrients it once was.

What are some of the biggest challenges you have faced in creating Salt Lab?

Launching Salt Lab ahead of the curve was both exciting and challenging.

We spent the first eight years educating people and really creating a market for topical magnesium — at a time when the benefits of magnesium oil weren’t widely understood. It was a long road, but so rewarding to see the awareness and demand grow over time. 

What advice do you give to people wanting to use magnesium oil for the first time?

Start small and be consistent! Use a few sprays on your feet and stomach before bed. If you experience tingling initially, don’t worry — it’s a sign your magnesium levels might be low, and it typically subsides as your body adjusts.

Stay hydrated, and make it part of your daily routine to see the best results.

Listen to your body. It’s easy to get caught up in trends, but what works for someone else may not work for you. Prioritise rest, nourish yourself with real, whole foods, move in ways that feel good, and find tools—like magnesium oil—that support your unique needs.
