Are Bondi Wash products safe for children/pregnant women/sensitive skin?

Yes, Bondi Wash products are all designed to be gentle on sensitive skin. However there is always a risk that skin may react to even the most natural ingredients. If you have concerns about a potential reaction, we suggest testing a small amount of product on a patch of skin and waiting 24 hours to ensure that there will no be reaction with more extensive use. If irritation does occur, please rinse with water and discontinue use.

We fragrance our products with essential oil blends (never synthetic fragrance).  Each blend contains 6 or more essential oils. Concentration of any one essential oil is low. Products are safe to use on babies (although we suggest over 1 month) and pregnant women.

Which Bondi Wash scent should I choose?

We spend a lot of time and energy developing fragrances we think people will love.

We have developed the 'Find your Fragrance' quiz to suggest which scents you may like based on your preferences.

Fragrance will affect emotions, mood and energy levels, which is why we have developed a variety of scents. Our Scent 1, Tasmanian Pepper & Lavender, is designed to calm and relax; Our Scent 2, Sydney Peppermint & Rosemary, has a cooling, refreshing effect; and our Scent 3, Lemon Tea Tree & Mandarin, will energise and uplift. Fragrance 6 ‘Fragonia & Sandalwood’ will ground and calm.  Fragrance 7 ‘Paperbark & Lemongrass’ is specially designed for dogs, however many humans like the scent are welcome to use the products – they are human quality.

Head to our Ingredients page to find out more about our unique Australian fragrances.

Some people choose different scents for different rooms.  For example, you could try the Sydney Peppermint & Rosemary in the bathroom, the Tasmanian Pepper & Lavender in the living room and the Lemon Tea Tree & Mandarin in the kitchen.

What is the difference between natural fragrance and synthetic?

We only use natural fragrance in all our products. This is a key feature of our brand and what distinguishes us from many others.  Synthetic fragrance is very common. Companies use it because it is affordable and it is always the same. Synthetic fragrances may contain some ingredients sourced from nature but will also contain chemicals made in a laboratory.  The fragrances we use are all sourced from plants. It is why sometimes our products will differ in scent (different weather conditions can result in different scent profiles) and may also differ in colour.  Natural fragrances also will never last as long as synthetic fragrances. Companies do not have to disclose what is in the synthetic fragrance and they may contain ingredients that are not good for human health or for the planet. That's why we avoid them.  You'll find more information on our journal here.

Why is the Baby range scent special?

Our Baby range scent have been designed to be soothing, healing and gentle for baby's skin. Essential oils have therapeutic properties and the ones we have included are designed to heal and nourish. For example Blue Cypress is a well-known eczema treatment.  We do get some feedback that our baby range does not smell very 'baby'. We assume people mean it is not powdery like the well-known baby powder - which is a synthetic fragrance when used in baby products. Plants so not naturally create scents like this.

What percentage alcohol does the Hand Spray have?

Our Hand Spray has less than 10% alcohol.  It is one of the key features of it - it will be much less drying than traditional hand sanitisers, yet still meets the independent testing standard 'kills 99.99% of germs'.

Which independent lab test standards do the products meet?

Many of our products have been independently lab tested against both bacteria and influenza.  These tests are also undertaken in markets where we sell the range as local testing is always required to make these claims.

  • Bench Spray - kills 99.99% of germs
  • Hand Spray - kills 99.99% of germs
  • Mist Spray - kills 99.9% of germs
  • Yoga Mat Spray - kills 99.9% of germs
  • Travel Spray - kills 99.9% of germs

What is “Bench Spray” and how do I use it?

Our Bench Spray is an all-purpose cleaning product that can be used to clean any surface in any room of the house. We use the Bench Spray all over the house, not just in the kitchen.  It has been tested and safe to use on many surfaces – caesarstone, timber, granite, laminate, stainless steel, plastic and glass.  We always recommend following the usage instructions – spray and then wipe clean with a damp cloth.  It is safe to use on marble if you follow these instructions.  It is a very gentle cleaner but you’ll find it works.  Feel free to try it on other surfaces (test first).  We have successfully cleaned leather, fabric, soft furnishings and removed stains from concrete with the Bench Spray.

Our Bench Sprays also meet the independent lab test standard ‘kills 99.99% of germs’.

Our products combine the antibacterial properties and fragrance of Australian botanicals with a mix of other essential oils and natural ingredients to be effective  without the need for harsh chemicals.

Are Bondi Wash products anti-bacterial?

Yes, each Bondi Wash scent has been designed around an anti-bacterial Australian bush oil.  Independent lab tests have confirmed the Bench Sprays and Hand Spray meet the standard ‘kills 99.99% of germs’ and the Mist Sprays and Yoga Mat Sprays meet the standard ‘kills 99.9% of germs’ or higher.

I would like to try Bondi Wash before buying a full bottle. How can I do that?

Our Trios are a great way to try out the range if you are new to Bondi Wash.  You can also purchase our sachets for selected products.

Are Bondi Wash Products tested on animals?

No, Bondi Wash products are not tested on animals (only our natural, non-irritating Dog Range which is tested on local dogs with sensitive skin).  We are firmly against cruelty to animals.

Aside from the natural product range products, how else does Bondi Wash support the environment?

We donate to the global charity WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature).  We choose WWF due to the wonderful work the organisation does in protecting animals and their habitats.  In Australia for example, deforestation has caused the loss of more species than in any other country in the world.  WWF work actively to protect and restore this natural habitat to ensure this devastation does not continue.  If you'd also like to support this worthy and well-run organisation, please click here

Do Bondi Wash products contain sulphates or parabens?

No, Bondi Wash products are all completely sulphate and paraben free. At Bondi Wash, our goal is to create the most natural products possible using only high-quality ingredients. For example, the non-paraben preservative system used in our Bench Spray, Floor Wash and Mist Spray is Sodium Benzoate/Potassium Sorbate which is food grade and constitutes less than 1% of the product.  More information can be found on our Ingredients page and in our series on ‘Ingredients’ in our journal.

Where are Bondi Wash products manufactured?

We work with high quality Australian manufacturers for all our baby, body, home and dog products.  We work with a small number of international suppliers for our accessories. All products are made by manufacturers with extensive experience using professional quality control to ensure products are shelf-stable and formulations are uncontaminated and consistent.

Is Bondi Wash an Australian company?

Yes, Bondi Wash is fully Australian-owned.  Our ABN is 37 163 733 337.

Are Bondi Wash products organic?

Organic is fast becoming a trendy word that many companies are using regardless of what’s inside their products.  At Bondi Wash, where we can source organic ingredients we do.  But many of the ingredients we source for our products are not available with organic certification.  It is for this reason that we don’t label our products ‘organic’ – we felt it was misleading to the consumer.

Does Bondi Wash use palm oil?

Currently only our Hand and Body Washes and Lotions contain a very small percentage of sustainably sourced palm oil.  We try to avoid palm oil in our formulations.

Are Bondi Wash products vegan?

All Bondi Wash products are vegan except the Purifying Night Balm and the Lip Balm which contain beeswax.

Are Bondi Wash products gluten free?

Yes, Bondi Wash products are safe for coeliacs.

Why does Bondi Wash use plastic bottles?

We care deeply about the impact we have on the environment and give careful thought to the implications of our packaging.  We have experimented with using glass bottles but found that breakage was high and thus dangerous to use at home during daily chores.  Glass bottles are also very heavy for carrying around the home and can slip out of hands while in use.  We have also explored the option of using refillable pouches but found that these most often end up in landfill.

Recently we have released 5L Bulk options to promote alternatives to single use bottles and we have new ones coming in soon.   We like the concept of buying in bulk because it means less transport cost and associated impact and waste.

We are rolling out post consumer plastic for our plastic bottles (all made in Australia) so no new plastic is created.  These bottles are also recyclable so do not need to end up as landfill.

The rest of our range also comes in fully recyclable plastic or aluminum bottles.

As always, we will continue to explore ways to ensure our range minimises its impact on the environment.

Any questions regarding our range please do get in touch hello@bondiwash.com.au.

We are always happy to consider a request for sponsorship of your event or your charity.  Please email any requests to store@bondiwash.com.au for consideration.  We do get many such requests so appreciate your understanding if we cannot respond to all of them individually.

Who is responsible for customs issues if I send the parcel overseas?

If you purchase Bondi Wash to be sent to an international address you are responsible for any duties associated with this shipment.
